What it is about

Every commercial passenger transport with motor vehicles in Germany requires a licence. The private hire licence is granted to the company, applies per vehicle and for a maximum of five years. The licensing authority at the depot is responsible, usually the city or district.

What matters

  • Reliability, financial standing, professional competence and a real depot are the four requirements.
  • Insurance with the purpose "private hire" is mandatory.
  • The licence applies per vehicle and for a maximum of five years.
